JENNIFER YU
Founder, Executive Director
Jennifer Yu is a high school senior from the Boston Area. She uses her personal experience to raise awareness and advocate for teens struggling with eating disorders. Notably, she gave the Ted Talk “Rewriting Society’s Definition of Health.” Jennifer is an ambassador for the Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy & Action (EDC) where she lobbies for increased funding for scientific research on the treatment and prevention of eating disorders. Additionally, Jennifer is a research intern under Dr. Janet Lydecker at the Program of Weight and Eating Research (POWER) at Yale University where she examines the prevalence of Bulimia Nervosa in youth patients. In her spare time, Jennifer is a lover of politics, ceramics amateur, and an avid Frank Ocean listener.

NAOMI D'SOUZA

Naomi D’Souza is a freshman and D1 track & field athlete at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Naomi uses her first-hand experience to perform grassroots advocacy to improve and raise access to quality mentoring relationships for youth across the state of Mass. To achieve this, she led an engaging virtual presentation to youth all over the state in the format of peer to peer youth advocacy training called “Break the Silence.” Naomi is also a panelist and panel motorator at Youth Mentoring Day (YMD) to increase Mass Mentoring Partnership’s (MMP) Mentoring Grant line item in the fiscal budget for the following year. As a BME major on a pre-med track, she is a multi-department volunteer at Lowell General Hospital and intern at Conduit Computing, where she is a part of their marketing, fair planning, and lab testing committees. In her free time, Naomi loves gardening, playing music, traveling, and trying new things.

KAREN KHELA
Outreach Director
Karen Khela is a high school junior from the Boston area. She joined ABC because she felt that the mission statement resonated with her own past experiences. She extends her work in the ABC to other areas, such as her school’s Middle Eastern Student Association, where she serves as president and organizes meaningful table talks, where students talk about their own experiences with culture, food, stigma, and more. In her spare time, you can find Karen playing guitar, drawing, or listening to Laufey.

RAGHVI SETHI

Raghvi Sethi is a high school senior from Madison, Wisconsin. Raghvi is passionate about healthcare and dedicated to community service. Notably, she co-founded a service organization called "HealthQuest," raising awareness on mental health and substance abuse among youth by designing/presenting interactive lessons to youth grades 3-8 and partnering with the Prevention Alliance of Dane County. Raghvi is a research intern under Dr. Raunak Sinha at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, where she is conducting research on the retina by independently analyzing electron microscopy imaging. Furthermore, Raghvi is involved with shadowing a physician assistant at the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center and volunteering as an academic tutor for middle school students at the Middleton Youth Center (MYC). In her free time, Raghvi loves to make intricate friendship bracelets, engage in competitive event clubs like Forensics (speech), and play tennis.

Diya Mankotia is a rising high school junior from Austin, Texas. Drawing from her experience with anorexia, Diya now uses her journey to raise awareness about eating disorders. She is also dedicated to helping the elder community, having created over a hundred cards for seniors with Sending Sunshine and founding her own organization, Empowering Elders, to combat senior isolation. Aside from her community service, in her spare time, Diya enjoys baking, reading, and going on walks with her mom.

Samhitha Pai is a current high school junior in the Boston area. She enjoys working in many STEM fields, but especially loves the field of biotechnology. She has been learning about the field of biotechnology, and plans to pursue more opportunities related to it in the future. She is passionate about helping her community both in and outside of school. She is secretary of Interact club which raises money to help students in need. Samhitha is also the secretary of crochet club where students crochet hats for cancer patients, and stuffed animals for foster children. She loves crocheting and plans to start a crochet business in the near future. Additionally, Samhitha is a member of the CHS science team as well. Outside of school, she interns at the Town office, as well as at hospitals. Additionally, she is cofounder of a nonprofit organization called Garden of Hope that gives bouquets of flowers to patients in various hospitals. She hopes to spread more awareness about eating disorders with the ABC!

VANSHI KUMAR

Vanshika Kumar is a high school senior from Acton-Boxborough. Eating disorder awareness and journalism became relevant to her through personal experiences. Likewise, Vanshi can write in English, Spanish, and French, and she is looking to gain proficiency in Russian and Korean. Most recently, Vanshi has worked on eating disorder journalism regarding the lesbian community, who are often sideline from productive discussion. As someone interested in langage and global politics, Vanshi has begun learning Korean through Seoul National University (SNU) Language Education Institute and is also working on journalism ventures in Seoul as well. In her free time, Vanshi likes translating Latin literature and painting.

Anika Gurijala is a high school junior from the Boston area. She has spent her time volunteering in hospitals and observed the effects of ED in her community. She also created the nonprofit Garden of Hope, which gives out bouquets of donated flowers to patients and raises awareness about mental health. In school, she is the president of Health Occupations Students of America which encourages students to pursue careers in medicine. She is also extremely passionate about biology, portrayed through her leadership in her schools Science Team. Her hobbies include tennis—showcased by her commitment to her schools Varsity Girls Tennis Team. Outside of school, she has participated in international conferences regarding biotechnology and gave a presentation on her ideas regarding the ongoing projects of the biotechnology world. She wishes to make a great impact with the knowledge she shares about eating disorders in her writings

Rian is a rising senior at Chelmsford High School and has had the pleasure of researching and writing for the All Bodies Journal for almost a year! When she's not writing, you can find her at the beach, with friends, skiing, acting on stage, singing, or prepping a speech and debate piece! Rian loves biology and psychology, so she loves to incorporate those themes into her writing! Her favorite part about being a writer is using her words to heal and empower those who are struggling with eating disorders.
